Witness the Magic of Disney Live! Mickey's Musical Festival

I'm sure everyone loves Disney.  Seeing this poster made me reminisce.  Let me share with you how Disney has affected my life...

As toddlers, we used to wake up hearing the songs from "Disney Babies Wake Up CD Album".  Growing up, we loved watching Mickey and Friends on TV as shown by all the Disney stuffs we had from bed covers to stuff toys.

My favorite Daisy Duck Shirt
We also have a Disney Movie Classic Collection Laser discs which some you might be unfamiliar to you since they are already obsolete.  We all had our own favorite Disney Movies.  My favorite Disney movie was Aladdin.  I used to sing the song "A Whole New World" over and over.
Disney Laser Discs
We were so excited and happy when my Dad brought us for the first time to a real cinema in SM Mega Mall.  It was for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast".  I was so enchanted by the part where Mrs. Potts sings "Tale as Old as Time" and the Belle and Beast danced beautifully in the ballroom floor.  "Beauty and the Beast" became my little sisters favorite.  Until now, she still has her toy collection.  She believes Disney is timeless.  We all agree.  We still watch the latest Disney movies together as a family.  The last movie we watched was the "Alice in Wonderland in 3D".
One of our family tradition when I was a child was to watch "Disney on Ice".  We watch it consecutively with all my aunts, uncles and cousins.  During the show, we always bought glowing toys and snow cones in Disney mugs.   The show is always different and amazing.  I can still picture the characters, colored lights, songs and dances and smokes and effects from the shows we watched.
Disney Souvenirs
Disney has left me so many magical memories.  I don't think my life would ever be the same without it.

I'm so glad the Disney continues to create magical moments for everyone.  In fact, because my aunt will be in Greece for the Greece Holidays, I'll be bringing my nephew to watch Disney Live! Mickey's Musical Festival.  Mickey Mouse and friends: Minnie MouseDonald Duck and Goofy will be performing a music mash-up.  There will be guests from the blockbuster movies: AladdinThe Little Mermaid, and Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story.   Our favorite songs and music will be presented with a twist as they are remixed to rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and country, among other jams!  So don't miss out the chance of sharing a rare and unforgettable fun, entertaining and magical moment that you can share with your family.

My Barnes and Noble Nook Color has Arrived!

The rainy weather and the long travel made it too impractical for me to bring my 15-inch laptop to school everyday so I decided to purchase a Barnes and Noble Nook Color E-reader Tablet.  After a few weeks of waiting, it is finally here in Manila and delivered at our home.

I've been testing it and I'm impressed with the screen response and the long battery hours.=)

Our Incubus Live In Manila Experience (pics + video)

A few days ago, I mentioned Incubus performing live here in Manila (see separate entry)  Our excitement was not wasted.  The concert was a blast!
Compliments of Oracare and Ovation Productions
Large Crowd at Araneta
Full House at Araneta Colliseum
We only managed to get Upper Box B tickets so we had to be early.  I'm so guilty that I had to cut a really good and fun class, my favorite subject "Corporate Law" with my favorite professor, just to grab a chance to have good seats.  But when we arrived, the place was already packed so we had to choose either to stand up and have a good view or seat down with an awful view. Thinking that we could seat as much as we want anytime but to watch one of my favorite bands play live is rare, we choose to stand up.

The show started at 8 p.m. with "Franco" playing around five songs for the opening performance.  They're a "superband" here in the Philippines.  Most of them are Cebuanos.  Although I'm not familiar with their songs, they did a pretty good job entertaining people who are eager to watch Incubus.
After setting up the stage at around 9:20 p.m., the lights closed and the crowds cheered for Incubus' introduction song, Megalomaniac.

From the first song until the last, the voice of the crowd singing, clapping and cheering filled the stadium.  I didn't even notice I stood for more than an hour.  I'm so glad they played all my favorite songs.  My friends were wondering why the song "Stellar" wasn't played.  Here is the song list during the show:
(For more videos check us out at Youtube)

1. Megalomaniac

2. Wish You Were Here

3. Consequence
4. Pardon Me

5. Anna Molly
6. Love Hurts
7. Circles
8. Look Alive
9. Promises, promises
10. The Warmth
11. Drive
12. Sick Sad, Little World
13. Isadore
14. Glass
15. Talk Shows on Mute
16. Adolescents
17. Crow

After these, the lights went off.  People shouted "We want more" for a few minutes.  The sound was almost deafening.  As expected, they came back to play more songs.  I'm surprised they even sang "I Miss You".  Its been a long time since I heard that song again.  But still as meaningful.=) They also performed "Wolves" and "Nice to Know You".
They performed so well, its really difficult to pick which song was the best for the night.  I enjoyed Drive, Promises, Promises and Wish You Here the most.
After the show Oracare toothpaste and mouthwash were being distributed.  There was also a Minute Maid and Coke Zero booth.  I chose Minute Maid over Coke Zero liked most people did.  Perhaps, we were all health-conscious and preferred a no preservative drink?
Overall, definitely worth the watch.  I missed their concert last 2008, so I'm really glad I gotthe opportunity this time around.  I bet this time around is better since they had more songs to offer.  One of the best concerts ever!

Just felt the 5.9 Magnitude Earthquake here in Luzon July 26,2011 1:15 a.m.

At around, 1 a.m. I felt the ground shaking.  I though I was just dizzy from studying too long.   But then our Maynah bird was shouting and flattering its wings and our chimes made their tingling sound.  The earthquake lasted for about 5 seconds.

I checked the internet and found out it was only a 5.9 magnitude.  It was only around 3 magnitude here in Manila.  Thank you Lord.  Everyone is sleeping here and no one could have prepared for a higher magnitude during early hours.  Hope everyone is safe and sound.   How about you?  Did you feel it too?

Our Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber Experience

I mentioned a few weeks ago about the "Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" to be performed at CCP. (see separate entry)  After seeing a lot of teasers, I decided I could not miss this!  Afterall, this only happens once in a lifetime right?  So we rushed of to the nearest Ticketworld outlet and bought our tickets.

The show starts was signified by the National Anthem and continues until the 20 minute intermission.  As any broad way show, the female singers wore glittery dresses while the men were in shiny suits.   The first part was full of our favorite solemn songs.  The lively songs were placed during the second part.

Although the show was not the best Andrew Lloyd Webber performance I've watched but it was definitely worth it!  The impact of having a live performance is magnificent.  The best part was the "Phantom of the Opera" and "Music of the Night" combined in one act.  The song "Don't cry for me Argentina"  was well sang but I could sense the hint of Australian accent throughout the song.  The least I liked was the song "Heaven on their minds".

All of the casts had a good voice.  They all sang well.  Theirs acts and facial expression complemented their voice.  I loved the performance of Michael Cormick above all.  His voice is strong and manly.

Everything would have been perfect if there were no bisexuals at our back whispering and singing loudly.  I also was surprised that a lot of audiences only entered after the intermission.

Food Bar

Overall, the show was spectacular.  The song list was excellent.  I never appreciated "Cats" until this show.  It also made aware of Andrew Lloyd Webbers songs that I have never heard before.  Some from his old shows and some from his new ones like "Love Never Dies", a sequel to the Phantom of the Opera.

5th TAGCOM Toys & Hobbies Convention

There was a 3-day event held at Robinson's Midtown Atrium, Ermita, Manila from May 20-22, 2011.  My brother went on the first day to buy collectible toys.  During the first day, only racks of toys were displayed and no other events were held.

We had the chance to pass by last Sunday May 22.   Admission was FREE.  The place was swarming.  There were many cosplayers and fans.  There were were many audience too.  Not only in the ground floor but for the second and third floors.  Too bad we couldn't stay for long=(

Headlines: Smoking ban in Metro Manila Public Places Implemented Today

The MMDA announced that violators will be fined P500 on first offense, while those who cannot afford to pay the fine are obliged to render an eight-hour community service.  The anti-tobacco use program is funded by a  New York-based Bloomberg Philantrophies with a P9.5-million grant.

Last June, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) already required the MMDA to prohibit smoking in its offices.

According to yahoo news "The Philippines has a law banning smoking in public places dating from 2003, but it has largely been ignored in a country where according to surveys 28 percent of Filipinos aged 15 years and over, or 17.3 million people, are smokers."

I'm in full support of this program.  I too hated to inhale the cigarette smokes flying towards me from smokers in the front seat of the jeepneys or the pedestrian in front of me in the sidewalks or while walking below the buildings of Makati where groups of smokers gather.  But I do hope this will be imposed fairly to all.

I'm really excited to see how this will be implemented.  Maybe smokers should start smoking E-cigarettes now like Johnny Depp in the movie tourist eh?  Just curious by public places, what exactly does it cover?
