My Tattoo Tatt Awards Favorites

A few years ago, I was not even aware that social media exists.  To be honest, I was probably one of the last persons who signed up for facebook or twitter.  Now, Social Media presence is becoming more dominant and a proof of that the Tattoo Tatt Awards that will be held on August 25, 2011.  


The contest seeks to recognize the greatness of one's influence through social media.  Through this contest, I was able to discover social media geniuses worth acknowledging.  I've seen the nominees and all of there are impressive.  But of course, there will always be social media influences who make a difference in our lives.  They are our favorites and I will share with you my bets for each category.

For "The One", I chose Laureen Uy because her blog is full of awesome photos of fashion and her fun life.  Through it, she is able to expose her style well and set a fashion trend.

 I think Lea Salonga's witty tweets makes her the perfect "Ballbreaker" candidate.

 Laureen Uy's blog is like a portal to her life of fashion and events.  It's so much fun to view and follow so I think among all nominees, she fits the "Stylismo" description the most.

JR Aquino is able to communicate well with his fans through You Tube.  You can see and hear him talk and I think that if an efficient way to reach fans through social media so he has my vote for the "Indie Rocker" category.

A word slayer is someone witty and creative with words.  For this category, I pick Von Cryan Cuerpo because his blog posts are witty and when I red it it makes me think about what he wrote.

 Nina Sandejas blog shows concerts scene brought to life through her photography.   

 Every since I could surf the net, I've always read Abe Olandres' reviews on gadgets so I believe he deserves the "Tech Junkie" award.

 One of the most followed person in twitter.  Need I say more?

The near 40,000 YouTube Subcribers in You Tube is enough proof that Mikey Bustos' is the best "Video Slinger".  His YouTube Videos markets his voice, talent and music to a wide range of internet viewers.  He also shares some facts about him and his family through his videos.  He are also makes funny and witty videos.=p

The Filipino Freethinkers blog is a great medium for initiative of change and awareness.  They encourage pro-activeness and I believe that is what is needed to be "The Advocate".

Overall, it was really good that Tattoo thought about this award.  Social media is really a powerful tool but it takes a lot of wits, charm and more to be able to utilize it well.  I feel that those who are successful with that are deserving awardees and being merely a nominee is already pretty cool.=)

Could it really be Mark Zuckerberg in Google Plus?  Yes.  It is really him!  A lot of people are surprised that he has Google + account.  I don't find it surprising.  He probably wants to keep a close eye on how his competitors work.  After all, I bet the Google Plus makers also have a facebook account.=)

Many have already added him in their circles.  I even added him.=)  He is now the most followed user in Google Plus.  Ironic?  I don't think so.

Inspired by monster-collection games like Pokemon or Digimon, Monster Galaxy starts you off as a trainer with one monster, called a “Moga”. Your goal is to wander the land and capture more Moga, while completing quests and leveling up. Doing so requires items, monsters’ unique powers and attributes, and help from other characters.

You’ll start the game by picking your first Moga, or monster. This is done by choosing the Zodiac symbol that you’d like your Moga to have, and then choosing from the three options that appear for each. Each zodiac symbol corresponds to different Attack, Defense, and overall Zodiac stats.

Moga, like Pokemon, tend to look like customized forms of everyday animals, along with some completely new creatures. You can adopt red and yellow tigers, a dark red pig, a bright pink sheep, and so on.

Your first Moga chosen, you are then shown an introduction to the game’s story. The world has fallen into chaos since it has been rocked by earthquakes. The stars begin falling from the sky, and your first Moga appears as one such falling star. You feel an instant connection to this creature (you should, since you just picked him/her), but you aren’t given time to really grasp the situation, as a wild Moga attacks from the nearby bushes.

 

Battles play out as you would expect, if you’ve spent any amount of time with turn-based gameplay, regardless of whether it was Pokemon or not. Each Moga can choose an attack from two different types - a physical attack or a magical zodiac attack. You, as the Moga tamer, will be able to tell your Moga which attack to use, from a list of four. As all Mogas have zodiac signs, these attacks come into play as the “elemental” portion of gameplay.

Certain signs are weaker or stronger against other signs, and you’ll need to quickly learn which signs your pet is stronger against to make the most of your time in battle (that is, to be able to win quicker, or at least easier). For those that don’t wish to memorize the chart of weaknesses and strengths, once you’ve entered into battle, a simple hover over the Elemental Attack will show you how well that attack will do against the current sign.

Atomic Strike is the first browser played Real Time Strategy game on Facebook. You can manage a great military base, unlock technologies and weapons and repel the enemy in great battles.

Atomic strikes is one of those games where you have always lots of things to do, its a full RTS with great additions, everything can be upgraded, from units to buildings.

The game starts off really well, with a fully detailed tutorial, you will learn the basics of it even if you are not used to this game genre, you’ll learn to upgrade your buildings, their options, to build up your troops, formations etc.

After the tutorial you will for sure be able to proceed without any greater difficulty.

The game balance and monetization is also pretty generous as you can do almost everything without having to pay for anything, only for the more dedicated players there are some top items that can provide an extra boost to your power and gameplay, but as I said you can perfectly play the game without it.

The game is based on a story guideline support, this gives some more deepness to the whole thing and a nice feeling of accomplishment to the player and it progresses in the game.

The strategy part is very well done and in the first training mission you will be guided through all the basic features, such as producing and placing the various unit types, selecting them and targeting your enemies, all in a very swift and clear way.

The graphics are great although sometimes a little small, but the game features nowadays standard full screen mode to help with that, as a matter of fact, when in this mode you almost forget you are playing a browser based game.

Great game, maybe not for the millions of other Facebook Games such as CityVille or FarmVille but sure for lovers of the genre and a good way to catch some new players.

Multiply's New "Product" feature Step by Step Guide

Multiply's "product" feature signifies that it is leaning towards e-commerce rather than competing in social media networking.  It may have been a good recourse.   As one of more than 65,000 Filipino multiply shop owners, we have chosen multiply because of its platform that enables us to display merchandise online with flexibility.  They also added the marketplace which functions as a directory of online shops.


Since 2008, we have notices that multiply has created revenue generating schemes sourced mainly from online sellers such as:

• Multiply Premium (799 php/year) - Online Sellers subscribe to this because they do not want ads to be seen within their multiply site and also for their product images to be able to be zoomed in
• Multiply Promote™ - Online Sellers advertise depending on their budget so that their ads will be seen in the non-premium users multiply sites (This is similar to facebook ads)
• Multiply Trust: Trusted Seller (1,999 php/year) , Trusted Merchant (2,999php/year), Trusted Business (4,999 php/year) - Online Sellers pay for them to be verified by multiply and trusted by online buyers because if something goes wrong the buyer gets a refund 

We first noticed about the new feature when we saw this on our multiply page.  It got us really interested so we instantly tried it out.  

As we clicked on the "add product" it brought me to a new categories called "Stock Room" which requires your bank details before you could proceed.  

       

As can be reasonably expected, the service charges a fee.  The basis of the fee was unlike other schemes previously introduced that involved fixed payments.  This service costs 3.9% of the total sales price.  Therefore, if you do not sell anything then you don't pay anything.  On the other hand, if you do sell something and your sales price is high then your fee will be expensive.  

When we proceeded to the product listing, we had the impression that Multiply studied very well about the issues at hand.  We were impressed with its flexibility.  It allows sellers to state whether the product is actively for sale, on hold or out of stock.  It embeds both pictures and videos.  There are two payment models available: buy it now and invoice.  They even considered pre-orders, down payments and installments.  They also added options for variations such as sizes and colors. In addition, it also has an automatic update in Facebook, twitter and yahoo! function.  

The product layout looks professional.  It reminds me of the interface of amazon where customers choose different view points and zoom on the image they want.  The price is indicated and customers can select the quantity.  An "inquire" or "add to cart" button is shown depending on the payment method.

Once the buyers add to cart and then proceed to check out, they will be asked to choose shipping options.  In either options, they have to pay in advance to multiply.  They can pay via BDO or BPI bank deposit, Gcash or paypal.  

If buyers choose invoices, they will receive an invoice in their inbox.

The "Stock Room" has more functions than just product listings.  It as its own menu located at the left side.  The most interesting function we found new was the Badges.  Badges can now be embedded on other sites to direct them to your multiply site.  However, we did not like how the flash badges worked especially when showing the latest products.  It would scroll upward to shift between products then scroll to the right or left to shift to product images.  It made us dizzy...

We also find the new statistics quite useful.  We could now easily monitor our visitors and study which of our products are appealing to our market. 

Overall, we think Multiply hit the right mark and at a great start.  Now, anyone can create their online stores with professional interface even without programming knowledge.  This will probably captivate more people to start online selling.  We will be looking forward to more improvements in the coming months.  However, we also have to consider what type of product we are selling.  If the sales price is high, then this system would be impractical unless Multiply implements other fee arrangements.   But considering most online sellers sell low priced goods, many would certainly opt to embraced the current scheme.
